I have an Ambiguous package error where the files are being opened from another file than what the game thinks should be opened. I've already had this error once before but never had a problem with it (not with coda) but each time I install any version of Coda, I get this error and when I enter the game I can't see my character...the game acts like the person is underground and the only thing you can see is the sword sticking out of the ground. The character is no where to be seen.

I've been trying to get to the bottom of my Ambiguous package error and I noticed a major issue

The game is trying to open files from a folder that doesn't exist. I don't really understand what is going on. I can find the files in the My documents UT Game, and I'm wondering if I can put those same files in the program files one and create a folder that meets the conditions of the "fake" folder and trick the game into working.

If anyone can help me with this, I greatly appreciate it. The errors are as follows:
(All start with Ambiguous package name: Using)

'C:\Program Files\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\CookedPC\Coda\AnimTree.upk', not 'C:\Users\MYNAME\documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament3\CodaBeta\Published\CodaAssests\CodaAnimTree.upk'

'C:\Program Files\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\CookedPC\Coda|CodaUI.upk', not 'C:\Users\MYNAME\Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\Coda Beta\Published\CodaAssests\CodaUI.ipk'

'C:\Program Files\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\CookedPC\Coda\VH_Mules.upk', not 'C:\Users\MYNAME\documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\CodaBeta\Published\CodaAssests\VH_Mule.upk'

I find it extremely odd that they are all trying to use the same Non existent folder. Was there one I was suppose to create?

And again thank you for any assistance with this problem.

Coda PS3 suggestions

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help test the PS3 version of Coda with me? Currently, the ps3 version lacks any sort of playtesting beyond stability.

Here are the major problems I've noticed.

1. The controls are not optimized for consoles and I'd like to at least tweak the controls to be better. I've played a couple of friendly matches but if you actually want to have a competitive match it leads to nothing but frustration.

2. Needs character customization. You basically get a random character in the PS3 version.

3. Another general problem is that in a 1v1 game the round restarts after every kill which is expected but not wanted in that situation. This is really annoying during a split screen match.

4. Jumping is harder to control on the PS3 resulting in more frustrating wipeouts from mistimed jumps. I thought this was a cool part of gameplay on the PC version because it required another level of skill but as of Coda v0.4, released in Nov 2009, jumping wipeouts were removed in all versions. I guess this eliminated the problem on the PS3 version but I thought I'd mention it.

5. Custom Menus.
The way PS3 UT3 mods work makes this hard to do but not impossible. It's currently low on the list but I'd like to eventually have custom menus

It's awesome that Epic even allows mods for the PS3. No other game lets you mod on the console but the PS3 tools are not really conducive to TC conversions. It's extremely timeconsuming to bug hunt and test PS3 UT3 mods so if you have a PS3 and you want to play coda, you are in demand! Please post any bugs, criticisms, and suggestions to help me test the PS3 versions.

What are the main things that you want added, fixed, or changed relating to Coda?

This is just a general question about all things related to coda. This includes the game itself all the way to the Coda community.

Here is my current list.

1. A better way for players to find each other and get a game going.
UT3 doesn't have a lot of players in general. It's hard to find a time when people are playing and previous attempts at coordinating games have come up short. Any ideas on getting people together to play games are welcome.

2. I'd like to see some Coda tournaments.
Some Coda tournaments would be really fun but Denrei and I don't currently have the time to run them. If someone from the community wants to help get that going it would help us out a ton. Any other ideas on setting up tournaments are welcome.

3. Possibly allowing a multi-hit kill system.
I won't lie on this one. Denrei and I are pretty set on the whole one-hit kill thing but lately we have been seeing a lot of requests for a mode that isn't one-hit kills. We are always open to experiementing with gameplay and when the community talks we like to listen. Therefore, I'd like to try out some multi-hit kill systems. I'm thinking about adding some mutators to allow this type of functionality for playtesting purposes but I'd like to hear some of your ideas for implemening this. There is currently a thread started about this here: http://codamod.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=67

4. More updates and developer information.
I'd like to see Coda have more information and content released on a daily basis. We usually only announce releases. Once again, the main problem here is that denrei and I just don't have the time to put together media, dev stories, and other stuff. This is another situation where someone from the community could really help us out.

5. Coda UDK - http://udk.com/
Don't you think it would be awesome if you didn't have to install UT3 in order play Coda? I don't want to spoil anything but denrei and I think it's awesome too

Hi! It's been a while since I've played Coda due to computer troubles. While my main computer wasn't working, I wanted to play Coda, but my laptop can't handle UT3. I decided to try out the next best thing: Mount and Blade.

I have to say, Coda blows M&B out of the water (although M&B is still a great game).
However, there are a few things that M&B has that Coda doesn't.

1. First Person: In M&B, you can go into first person mode by pressing a button. Instead of having actual first person models for the weapons, your view is changed from your character's back to the front of your chest. I think this feature would be great for Coda.

I don't know how hard it would be to code in UT3, but there was a mod that I once played for UT2004 that changed the player's view automatically. It had a few problems, like going too far in to the 3rd person weapon models, but I don't think it would be such a problem in Coda.

2. Fists: In most games, using your fists instead of another weapon is a bad idea. In M&B, your fists deal much less damage than a sword, but they are much faster. In Coda, perhaps fists could be a weapon choice. They would do no damage, but would be enough to disorient enemies.

It would be good for magic users that don't have the time to swing at their foes that manage to dodge all of their magic attacks. Once out of harms way, the player could switch back to magic and begin their onslaught once again.

3. Ranged Weapons: M&B has a bunch of ranged weapons to choose from, like crossbows, knives, javelins, axes, and stones. They are all easier to use than Coda's magic, but they don't kill anyone instantly. Anyway, what would it be like to have the player choose a ranged or melee weapon? The ranged weapons could be slightly easier to use than magic, but you would have a set amount of ammo. That way, magic wouldn't completely be replaced. Maybe ranged weapons could combine with magic, like the melee weapons currently can.

Anyway, just a few suggestions. I would love Coda to go retail, you guys would make tons of money!

First off let me just say this is a dope mod~ This actually reminds me of bushido blade (don't know if anyone here has played it on the psx)

But here's something me and my friends were pondering about when we were playing this during our LAN last week: Could there be a mode where the sword slashes are more forgiving? so you don't die instantly after being slashed just once? (perhaps have a life bar?)

Yes it makes it more exciting, faster paced, and you feel like you have to be more careful with the one-slash kill setup, but I would figure the battles would be more epic if we had more chances to slash each other. In essence it'd be more back and forth fighting, and maybe certain moves would hurt more than the other. I think that would add to the dynamic of the gameplay. (i'm thinking like certain moves would be harder to pull off/takes time to recover, or you can do like combos with the slashes, and there could be counter slashes. Pretty much becoming like a console fighting game)

Hey, I have been playin' for about a week now and I have to say that I really enjoy your mod. The parry/blocking/stunning system is perfect; makes for some very cool battles. There seems to be one thing about the game that continues to bug me: The holding slash. I think it is a very cool concept, allowing you to get a strike in before blocking, however, it seems instantanious regardless of sword speed. I also notice that it strikes with incredible range and the lack of animation makes it impossible to see coming. If the 'holding slash' was only a block, I think this game would be much much more competetive Great work so far, keep it up!

another awesome idea would be to have and element selector, like the ut3 weapon selector on the console versions. this would be cool because you would choose your element be holding a button down and moving the mouse to select the element you want then you would be able to aim you element and to charge the element you hold fire like you used to xD yet you will still be able to aim even while fully charged... Now this is different from the current way which you cant aim while charging, moving the mouse at all will change you element. I think this would be an amazing addition to the game, their could even be an option to choose the 'old' way or the 'new' way of selecting elements xD -antilight
